Her personal and family life, education, training and skills

Mary Kingsley was born in 1862. She never went to school, and she did all the housework at home. The atmosphere is the house was strange and unhealthy; her mother was hidden by her husband in her room. Even if she didn't have much education, she used to read some books in her father's library. This library was varied because her father was a doctor and a writer. She used to listen some stories about far countries that her father tells. So, her dream was to discover many countries. She was George Kingsley’s daughter and Charles Kingsley’s niece. Her mother was handicapped and Mary must care her. He died in February 1892. Five weeks later, her mother died too. Mary had no husband and children that is rarely at her time. She is therefore free from families obligations.
