She decided to visit Africa and brought the necessary equipment to complete a book that her father started to write about some African tribes. Mary arrived in Luanda, Angola, in August 1893 where she shared the lives of people. She lived among the local tribes who taught her everything she needed to know to survive in the jungle. She only ventured into dangerous lands. She went to meet cannibals, explored swamps infested by crocodiles and climbed Mount Cameroon. She returned to Africa in 1895 to further her studies among cannibal tribes. She travelled by canoe on the Ogooué river where she found unknown fish species. She met the Fang, which is a fierce tribe known for its cannibal feasts. She climbed the 4,100 m of Mount Cameroon by a way Europeans didn' t know. Mary Kingsley wrote two books about her experiences in Africa: Travels in West Africa (1897), which became immediately a bestseller, and West African Studies (1899). In the latest  book, she offered a new political organization for West Africa.
